What's the difference between Tanya Whitebits Professional Spray Tan Solution and Tanya Whitebits Self Tan Products?

The Tanya Whitebits Professional Spray Tan is for Trade Professionals and Freelance Beauty Therapists looking to purchase our products for use in their business with a professional air gun and machine. Tanya Whitebits Self Tan Products are for home or self-tanning and also available to sell at selected stores / stockists listed on our website.

What is Tanya Whitebits Self Tan Bronzing Mousse?

Our mousse is a velvety soft, easy to apply and has been developed using an odour neutralising formula. It provides a natural glow which dries quickly and isn’t sticky after application, so can be worn instantly. It also has minimal tan residue. Our Self Tan Bronzing Mousse is ideal for weekly or occasional tanners and lasts between 5-7 days. The product is available in Light, Medium & Dark + Rapid.

How do I achieve streak free results?

For streak free results ensure your skin is correctly prepped before applying the tan. Wax or shave at least 24 hours prior and exfoliate skin the day before to remove dead skin for a silky soft base, do not use oil based products to exfoliate. We recommend the Tan Eraser available from our Shop. Pay particular attention to dryer areas such as elbows, knees, ankles and feet. Do not wear any deodorant, perfume, lotions or body oils as these will react with the tan. For best results always use a Tanya Whitebits tanning mitt to apply the tan.

Do I need to moisturise first?

Moisturiser can act as a barrier therefore we do not advise moisturising immediately before applying your tan, however a small amount of Tanya Whitebits Barrier Cream can be applied to dry areas of skin such as elbows, knees and ankles to prevent unwanted tanning to dry areas that absorb excess product which can lead to an unnatural looking tan. Tanya Whitebits Barrier Cream forms an invisible layer to reduce tan build up. Our Barrier Cream may also be used to lightly blend product on the top of your hands or feet after application.

How do I apply the tan?

EXFOLIATE
For best results, ensure skin is exfoliated and clean, free from any perfume, oils and deodorant. The active ingredients can react with things like alcohol, so it is important you have nothing on your skin. We also recommend waiting at least 30 minutes after showering so that your body temperature has returned to normal before you commence application. Note: Ensure that you use our product sparingly over areas such as the neck, hands, knees, elbows face and feet. If you have excessively dry knees or elbows, we recommended applying a small amount of Tanya Whitebits Barrier Cream to these areas before you begin tanning. This will limit over absorption of the mousse in dry areas.

APPLY TO BODY
Using our velvety soft tanning Mitt, apply 1-2 pumps of mousse to the mitt and begin with one part of your body (e.g. an arm or leg). Use quick sweeping motions, blend the mousse into that one area until there are no streaks or untanned patches. In general, one/two pumps per area is usually sufficient, repeat the process with another 1/2 pumps. Tanya Whitebits tinted formula ensures you can see exactly where you have applied your tan, giving you a perfect application every time. Repeat this for each different area of the body. Our Luxury velour Mitt applicator gives even results for a streak-free appearance and the water resistant barrier ensures fingers remain unstained as you apply your tan.

Are your tanning products suitable for the face?

All our Tanya Whitebits Tan products are suitable to use on the face. If you are worried about applying tan to the face try mixing the tan in with your daily facial moisturiser for a lighter, hydrated look or mix well with Tanya Whitebits barrier cream which will dilute the strength of the mousse before face application.

Rather than applying another pump of mousse, we recommend that you use the residual product left on the mitt to go over your face. Also make sure to avoid thick application on eyebrows and hairline especially if you are fair. Apply a small amount of Barrier Cream to any areas you didn’t apply the tan to blend the colours and give you a natural graded colour. Note: Some people prefer not to tan their face, this is a personal preference.

Please note if you do apply tan to your face, pigmentation and freckles may appear to be darker so caution is advised. This will go away once the tan has been exfoliated. Due to daily cleansing, the face will tend to fade faster than the rest of your body.

How long should I let my tan develop?

Once you have applied the tan leave it on to develop for a minimum of 6 hours before showering off – this will allow the tan to develop fully. During this time make sure you don’t get wet or sweaty. Once the 6 hours have passed you are safe to have a quick shower to remove the guide colour and rinse until water runs clear then pat dry the skin. The Dark+ Rapid Tan can be washed off after 2 hours to reveal a light tan, can be washed off after 4 hours to reveal a medium tan and 6+ hours to reveal a dark tan.

For Professional Spray Tan follow the same instructions but leave the tan to develop for 8 hours. Development time differs for Rapid, which can be washed off after 1-2 hours for a light tan, 2-4 hours for a medium tan and 6+ for a dark tan.

Will then tan stain my clothes/bed linen?

Whilst the tan is developing the guide colour may rub off onto clothes or bed linen however this will wash off in the machine. Having said that there is only minimal tan residue with our product.

What can I do to ensure my tan lasts?

With the correct preparation and maintenance your Self Tan Bronzing Mousse tan can last for up to 5-7 days before it starts to fade, and your Professional Spray Tan can last between 7-10 days. Moisturise very lightly with Tanya Whitebits Tan Enhancing moisturiser – this will keep skin well-nourished and soft which will make sure your tan looks great for as long as possible.

Is Tanya Whitebits safe to use during pregnancy?

Tanya Whitebits is paraben alcohol and cruelty free. It’s vegan friendly and safe to use on the skin. I have sensitive skin, can I use Tanya Whitebits?

Tanya Whitebits products are paraben and alcohol free and contain organic ingredients. We advise that you perform a 24 hour patch test to check skin suitability beforehand. If irritation occurs discontinue use. Our feedback has been very positive from customers using Tanya Whitebits on sensitive skin. In particular Eczema conditions. We would not advise using our products during eczema flare ups or on open wounds. However if the skin is hard and all the above have been performed then we would recommend the following.

  1. Treat your condition regularly with moisturiser as recommended by your practitioner.
  2. Follow our preparation instruction.
  3. Apply Tanya Whitebits Barrier Cream to dry areas including areas affected by Eczema.
  4. When applying Tanya Whitebits tanning product to your skin, avoid direct application to affected areas. When unaffected areas have been tanned, use a blender brush or back of velvet tanning mitt to glaze over Eczema area. This will help blend in the tan and prevent dry areas from absorbing too much product which can produce darker patches.
  5. If your skin is inflamed and you have open wounds, we do not recommend using our products on those areas as they may cause irritation.
  6. Share your experience with us.
